RESULTS

Thousands of low-income young people between the ages of 17 and 29 have already benefited from humanistic training and technical capacity building in vocational workshops for the infrastructure and services industry. Complementary activities such as theater, dance, music, plastic arts, circus classes, reinforcement of Portuguese and mathematics, and the discipline Values & Virtues help to compose the formation of these young people for the job market.

For three years, between 2011 and 2013, Galpão Aplauso was evaluated by international bodies and studies showed a general index of employability of 64% in the first five months after students entered the job market. Over the 16 years of the project, our average employability indicator is 71%.

METHODOLOGY EVALUATION - 5 MONTHS AFTER GRADUATION

Students increase their income by about 46%, five months after completing the course and entering the job market.

Galpão Aplauso had a significant impact on its sponsors. Every 5.3 million reais applied in the Applause Shed Method, 10.9 million reais are produced in the local economy where young people circulate.

The Employment Indicators of the project in the formal economy represent 4 times the highest result ever obtained by an IDB/FOMIN funded project.

Galpão Aplauso participates for the 9th consecutive year in the International Masters in Practicing Management (IMPM) - held in Brazil by FGV. The creator of the program, Dr. Henry Mintzberg, after getting to know the project, invited the Galpão Aplauso to receive the participants annually for the closing class of the course.

Testimonials

I start by saying how grateful I am for my passage as a Galpão Aplauso's student. It was a huge learning cycle in all the contents planned by the workshops and that made me develop even more issues of daily life and society. Returning fifteen years later as an artistic instructor only shows how the project forms not only artists but mainly citizens.

A friend was talking a lot about the opportunities that Galpão Aplauso could offer. The strong point is that no matter what, we learn that we can always turn around what happens out there. The art world is not easy, we always have to look for the best in ourselves. We learn to always run after.

For me, the starting point is that the project helped me to seek my dream. I'm loving it. I feel it will give me great opportunities. Living here strengthens me a lot, even more with all the difficulties and lack of support that we find out there. When I bring an idea of my own, it may sound crazy, but I always have the incentive to help make it happen and make it possible.

Galpão Aplauso is the place where I can express myself the way I want, doing what I like. A place of opportunity. I meet friends from all over the city here. For me, who live far away, it's very nice to be close to everything: I can get out of here and visit museums, theaters, tourist spots and know more about the city.
It helps me to channel my energy into something productive.

Galpão Aplauso is wonderland! When I walk in here, I'm very free to be who I am. I have space to do what I like the most and say what I want, as long as I'm aware that I don't invade other people's space. Since space has great diversity, it takes me out of the comfort zone.
